About this Role

Location: 3500 Colonnade Pkwy Suite 550, Birmingham, AL 35243

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our EPC team, supporting power generation and distribution projects including gas turbines, renewables, BESS, substations, and transmission systems. You will lead the development of high-quality mechanical designs, applying advanced engineering techniques and collaborating across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and cost studies for mechanical systems.

  • Apply advanced engineering methods to complex process and utility piping systems.

  • Produce estimate-worthy designs, material take-offs, and detailed design sketches.

  • Perform piping stress analysis, sizing calculations, and select valves, supports, and specialty materials.

  • Review vendor and interdisciplinary drawings and provide mechanical input.

  • Assist drafting teams with layout and detailing issues.

  • Support scope development, procurement documentation, and construction packages.

  • Conduct fieldwork for data collection, verification, and construction support.

  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance to the team.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • PE license highly preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of industrial mechanical engineering experience, preferably in EPC projects.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of piping system design, stress analysis, supports, safety devices, steam traps, and specialty materials.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within virtual, cross-functional teams.
