About this Role

Our growing company is seeking to hire a Designer, who develops plans, designs, resource requirements and cost estimates for construction and maintenance projects involving distribution overhead and underground lines and facilities. Participates in the acquisition of permits and environmental clearances. Completes Joint Pole Authorization documentation as well as communicates and coordinates with other departments, customers, governmental bodies and various external organizations.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings by hand or using computer aided drafting software.
  • Prepare construction plans, material requirements and cost estimates for electrical distribution overhead and underground projects.
  • Assist in the development of, conductor replacement, structure replacements, and other Overhead and Underground projects.
  • Review field data, photos, etc. to meet requirements of latest updates and technologies of the customer.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet all requirements.
  • Performs field visits to gather technical data.
  • Create and translate Wind Loading / Pole Loading / compliance forms (Ocalc)
  • Coordinate access to professional/private facilities (e.g., schools, hospitals, military bases, etc.) when applicable.
  • Assist in field site meets; meet with developers, customers, local agencies. .
  • Communicates with internal staff and customer with appropriate medias (email, fax, phone, video, etc.).
  • Accurately complete a Joint Pole data sheet.
  • Field check design layouts.
  • Office check designs and redline changes.
  • Other duties as required

What You'll Bring

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in design and estimation, or an engineering degree or a Cal Poly Planner Certification, is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Has a broad knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
  • Has a general knowledge of PG&E proprietary software including, but not limited to: SAP, EES, MET, TIL and Ocalc
  • Must have positive attitude and an exemplary work ethic.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and determine priorities in a complex environment.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is - depending on experience and qualifications.
