At R.R. Cassidy the General Substation Superintendent Foreman oversees all field construction activities related to electrical substations, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and company policies. This role leads multiple crews and subcontractors, coordinates daily operations, and acts as the primary on-site authority for construction sequencing, quality control, and safety compliance.
Supervise and direct all on-site substation construction activities, including civil, structural, and electrical installation.
Plan daily and weekly work schedules, allocating manpower, equipment, and materials.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, planners, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are met.
Conduct daily job briefings and toolbox talks to communicate work plans, hazards, and expectations.
Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accurate execution.
Verify correct installation of substation equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, protection/control wiring, and steel structures.
Oversee testing and commissioning activities in coordination with QA/QC and commissioning teams.
Maintain detailed documentation, including inspections, redlines, and as-built records.
Assist in development and maintenance of construction schedules.
Track production progress and report daily updates to project management.
Support procurement by forecasting material needs and preventing schedule delays.
Manage subcontractors and ensure contract compliance.
Mentor, train, and evaluate field staff and crew leaders.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Approve timesheets and ensure proper workforce utilization.
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in substation construction, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems, electrical equipment, and construction methods.
