About this Role

The Materials Handler at Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) will work in their assigned laydown yard and support construction activities, which will include operating light/heavy duty equipment, loading and unloading product, executing standard receiving and shipping processes, providing spotting duties for equipment operators, rigging and cribbing of materials, maintaining inventory in the yard, and quality control duties.  

What You'll Do

  • Receives, QA/QC physical checks, counts, and inspects all material delivered against the purchase order
  • Matches packing list information to actual packed merchandise
  • Unloads, loads, and stores all materials, including but not limited to, steel poles, anchor bolts/cages, wire reels, and miscellaneous transmission line materials
  • Pulls and issues material per picklist
  • Prepares products, supplies, and equipment for delivery and stages in designated area
  • Loads and unloads product from trucks and trailers
  • Packs, unpacks, and marks stock items using identification tags, stamps, electronic marking tools, or other labeling equipment
  • Ensures all inventory is handled and stored safely, according to any requirements and engineering specifications
  • Performs on-site material audits to ensure accuracy of inventory
  • Examines and inspects stock items for wear and tear and rotates yard stock
  • Provides spotting duties for equipment operators
  • Performs rigging and cribbing of all materials
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following all written safety guidelines and ensures the zone of safety is monitored
  • Inspects all equipment used daily to ensure there is no damage or issues; reports any issues immediately to their supervisor
  • Operates heavy equipment to include, but not limited to, wheel loaders, large/small forklifts, and other heavy lifting equipment (i.e. straddle carriers)
  • Maintains accurate paperwork for record keeping purposes
  • Maintains excellent housekeeping practices in order to promote a safe and clean working environment
  • Assists with snow removal operations, if needed
  • Performs any other duties assigned
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures

What You'll Bring

Required Experience and Education

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment within a materials/construction setting
  • Certified Forklift Operator 8K– 55K telescoping lifts (Lull) and skid-steers to lift, move, or place equipment or materials; or the ability to obtain this certification soon upon hire


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds

Preferred Experience and Education

  • 4 years’ experience operating heavy equipment within a materials/construction setting; specifically for EPC projects within the electric power delivery sector
