About this Role

The Senior Director, Operations is a senior executive leader within Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG), responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and growth of large-scale energy infrastructure operations. This position provides executive-level oversight across multiple operating units and service lines, which may include electric power delivery, underground utility, pipeline, or other infrastructure sectors, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, client commitments, and safety standards. The Senior Director partners with the Vice President, Operations and other executives to shape long-range operational strategy, drive profitability, and build the organizational capabilities required to compete and grow across QISG's markets.

What You'll Do

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides senior-level leadership and strategic direction across multiple operating units, ensuring operational cohesion and consistent performance across service lines and geographies.
  • Partners with the Vice President, Operations and executive leadership team to develop and execute long- and short-range operational plans, policies, programs, and objectives aligned with QISG's growth strategy.
  • Accountable for the financial performance of assigned operations; monitors results against budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators, and drives corrective action as needed.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a team of Directors and Operations Managers, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Cultivates and maintains executive-level relationships with clients, owners, and key stakeholders; serves as the primary escalation point for major client issues, commercial disputes, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversees the planning, mobilization, and execution of large-scale, complex capital projects across assigned service lines and jurisdictions, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Leads contractor strategy, procurement support, and performance management for major construction and service programs as applicable to the business.
  • Identifies and develops new business opportunities; supports business development and proposal efforts with operational strategy, technical input, and client intelligence.
  • Establishes and enforces operational standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance processes in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Drives workforce planning initiatives including organizational design, succession planning, talent acquisition support, and employee development programs.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Human Resources, Safety, Legal, and other shared services to support project execution and organizational initiatives.
  • Evaluates and implements process improvements, technology adoption, and operational innovations to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and enhance service delivery.
  • Adheres to all internal standards, policies, and procedures; performs special projects and completes other job-related duties as assigned.

 

What You'll Bring

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience, or a combination of work and education, may be substituted.
  • 15+ years' progressive experience in operational management, capital project delivery, or construction program leadership within the energy infrastructure industry, including but not limited to electric power delivery, pipeline, underground utility, or related sectors.
  • 10+ years' experience managing and developing operational leaders, with demonstrated success building high-performing teams across geographically dispersed locations.
  • Proven experience overseeing large-scale, multi-project capital programs ($50M+) with accountability for schedule, budget, quality, and contractor performance.
  • Strong track record managing executive-level client and stakeholder relationships and resolving complex commercial or contractual matters.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and regulatory environments (e.g., FERC, PHMSA, DOT, OSHA, or equivalent) relevant to the assigned service line.
  • Experience in a contractor, EPC, or infrastructure services environment is preferred; owner-side capital program leadership with direct construction oversight will be considered.

  • Strong financial acumen; ability to manage complex program budgets, interpret financial performance, and drive results.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into operational execution across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Proven client relationship management skills at the executive level, including commercial negotiation and dispute resolution.
  • Strong contractor strategy and performance management capabilities.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills in complex, fast-moving field environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across geographically dispersed operations.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; effective presenter to executive audiences, clients, and field teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management, contract management, or ERP systems preferred.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Travel required; up to 50% of time depending on business needs and project activity.
