About Us

Quanta Power Solutions brings together the industry-leading capabilities and resources of Quanta's operating companies to deliver complete EPC solutions. Our integrated approach spans power generation, battery energy storage, renewables, transmission, substation, and underground infrastructure — from concept to commissioning, we execute complex power infrastructure projects with the speed, certainty, and operational excellence our customers depend on.

At Quanta Power Solutions, we are driven by a culture of safety, integrity, and disciplined execution — and we're building a team that shares that commitment.

About this Role

At Quanta Power Solutions we are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, operation, and optimization of mechanical systems supporting power generation facilities. The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority for rotating equipment, thermal systems, and plant infrastructure, providing leadership across engineering, operations, maintenance, and capital projects. This role is responsible for ensuring system reliability, efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset performance.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership for mechanical systems in power generation facilities, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, boilers, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), condensers, pumps, compressors, cooling systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Lead the design, evaluation, modification, and optimization of plant mechanical systems.
  • Support plant reliability, availability, and maintenance improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause failure analyses (RCFA) for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop engineering solutions to improve plant efficiency, heat rate, capacity, and operational performance.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, equipment selections, and design packages.
  • Lead major capital improvement projects, outage planning, equipment upgrades, and life-extension programs.
  • Perform stress, thermal, vibration, fatigue, and finite element analyses as required.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, electrical, controls, and project management teams.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical oversight of contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards including ASME, API, IEEE, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop engineering standards, maintenance strategies, and asset management programs.
  • Mentor engineering staff and provide technical guidance across the organization.
  • Support renewable, conventional, and hybrid power generation projects as applicable.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 12+ years of experience in power generation, energy, utilities, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Extensive experience with rotating equipment, thermal systems, and plant mechanical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power cycle analysis.
  • Experience with combined-cycle, simple-cycle, steam, nuclear, hydroelectric, or renewable generation technologies.
  • Proficiency with engineering analysis tools and CAD software such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, and asset management programs.
  • Familiarity with plant performance monitoring and optimization software.
  • Experience supporting major equipment OEMs such as GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, or Mitsubishi Power equipment.

What You'll Get

  • Competitive Compensation
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Holiday Pay
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage
  • Pet Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
