About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Specialist to lead project cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance reporting across large and complex Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. This role supports critical infrastructure projects including power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable energy, transmission, substations, data centers, and industrial facilities. 

What You'll Do

  • Lead project cost management activities for large-scale EPC projects from project initiation through closeout. 
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, commitments, expenditures, and Estimate at Completion (EAC)/Estimate to Complete (ETC). 
  • Analyze project financial performance, including cost variances, labor productivity, procurement, subcontractor costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying risks and recommending corrective actions. 
  • Prepare executive-level cost reports, dashboards, forecasts, and financial performance summaries to support project and executive leadership. 
  • Lead Earned Value Management (EVM) processes, monitoring project performance through CPI, SPI, productivity metrics, and other project controls indicators. 
  • Evaluate the financial impacts of change orders, contract modifications, claims, and scope changes, incorporating approved changes into project budgets and forecasts. 
  • Partner with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Scheduling, Accounting, and Commercial teams to ensure integrated project controls and accurate financial reporting. 
  • Support project startup, baseline development, execution, forecasting, and closeout while ensuring alignment between cost, schedule, and progress reporting. 
  • Review commitments, purchase orders, invoices, subcontractor costs, accruals, and financial transactions to ensure accurate project financial performance and compliance with company procedures. 
  • Assist with annual budgeting, financial planning, audits, monthly close activities, and executive reporting requirements. 
  • Develop and implement cost control strategies, reporting improvements, and project controls best practices to enhance project performance and profitability. 
  • Mentor Cost Specialists and Project Controls personnel, providing technical guidance and supporting the continuous improvement of project controls processes. 

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field OR equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, cost management, project finance, construction management, or related disciplines.   
  • Experience supporting large-scale EPC, utility, industrial, infrastructure, or power generation projects required 
  • Experience managing cost controls for projects exceeding $100 million preferred.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting activities.  
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent capital projects preferred.  
  • Ability to travel as needed for site visits, field verification, and project activities.
