About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a skilled Materials Specialist II to support material management, inventory control, logistics coordination, and warehouse operations for power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), data centers, substations, transmission, and industrial infrastructure projects. This mid-level position is responsible for managing material receiving, inventory accuracy, material tracking, warehousing activities, and coordination with Procurement, Logistics, Construction, and Project Management teams to ensure materials and equipment are available to support project schedules and operational requirements. 

The Materials Specialist II plays a critical role in maintaining material visibility throughout the supply chain and ensuring efficient movement of project materials from suppliers to warehouses, fabrication facilities, and construction sites. 

What You'll Do

Material Management & Inventory Control 

  • Manage the receipt, storage, issuance, and tracking of project materials, equipment, and supplies. 

  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and receiving documentation. 

  • Inspect materials for damage, shortages, quality concerns, and compliance with project requirements. 

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and material tracking systems. 

  • Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities. 

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and material variances. 

Warehouse & Laydown Yard Operations 

  • Coordinate daily warehouse and laydown yard activities. 

  • Ensure proper storage, preservation, labeling, and handling of materials and equipment. 

  • Monitor storage conditions and implement material preservation requirements. 

  • Support material staging and distribution activities for construction and fabrication operations. 

  • Maintain organized and efficient storage locations. 

  • Ensure compliance with warehouse safety and housekeeping standards. 

Material Tracking & Reporting 

  • Maintain material tracking databases and inventory management systems. 

  • Generate material status reports, inventory reports, and project material forecasts. 

  • Track material movements between suppliers, warehouses, fabrication facilities, and project sites. 

  • Monitor material availability and identify potential shortages or schedule risks. 

  • Provide regular updates to project teams regarding material status and delivery schedules. 

Logistics & Transportation Coordination 

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with suppliers, carriers, logistics providers, and project teams. 

  • Prepare shipping and receiving documentation. 

  • Track deliveries and support transportation scheduling activities. 

  • Coordinate material transfers between company facilities and project locations. 

  • Assist with freight claims, shipment discrepancies, and logistics issue resolution. 

  • Support domestic and international shipping activities as required. 

Project Support 

  • Collaborate with Procurement, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, and Project Management teams. 

  • Support project material planning and forecasting activities. 

  • Ensure timely availability of materials required to support construction schedules. 

  • Participate in project meetings and provide material management updates. 

  • Assist with project closeout activities and material reconciliation efforts. 

Safety, Quality & Compliance 

  • Ensure compliance with company material management procedures and inventory control standards. 

  • Support quality control activities related to material receipt and handling. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for audits and project requirements. 

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures. 

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse and material management operations. 

What You'll Bring

Education 

  • High school diploma or GED required. 

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. 

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. 

Experience 

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in material management, inventory control, warehousing, logistics, supply chain operations, or construction support. 

  • Experience supporting EPC, industrial construction, manufacturing, utility, or infrastructure projects preferred. 

  • Experience managing inventory systems and material tracking processes preferred. 

Technical Skills 

Knowledge Of 

  • Inventory control and warehouse management principles. 

  • Material receiving and inspection procedures. 

  • Logistics and transportation coordination. 

  • Material preservation and storage requirements. 

  • Supply chain and material flow processes. 

  • Construction and industrial material management practices. 

Software Proficiency 

  • Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Inventory Management and ERP Systems: 

  • JD Edwards (preferred)  

  • SAP  

  • Oracle  

  • Dynamics 365  

  • Other warehouse and inventory management systems  

Preferred Knowledge 

  • EPC project environments. 

  • Utility and power generation equipment. 

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). 

  • Data center construction projects. 

  • Material forecasting and planning. 

  • Barcode and inventory tracking technologies.
