Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Principal Process Engineer to serve as the technical authority for process engineering across complex EPC projects supporting power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure, and industrial facilities. This role provides strategic technical leadership, establishes engineering standards, and serves as a subject matter expert for process systems throughout all phases of project development and execution.

The Principal Process Engineer is responsible for leading critical technical decisions, developing innovative engineering solutions, mentoring engineering staff, and ensuring the successful delivery of large-scale projects. This position works closely with executive leadership, clients, OEMs, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support business growth and engineering excellence.

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the highest-level process engineering technical authority for power generation and industrial EPC projects.
• Establish and maintain process engineering standards, procedures, best practices, and design methodologies.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance for multiple concurrent projects across the organization.
• Lead resolution of complex technical issues and engineering challenges.
• Review and approve critical process engineering deliverables and design decisions.
• Support strategic planning and technology selection for new projects and business initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends for application within Quanta Power Solutions projects.

Project Execution

Lead process engineering activities across all project phases, including:

• Feasibility studies
• Conceptual design
• Front-End Engineering Design (FEED)
• Detailed engineering
• Procurement support
• Construction support
• Commissioning and startup
  Serve as the lead process engineering representative for major EPC projects and client engagements.
  • Oversee process discipline scope, schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Support project execution strategies and risk management initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level technical support during project reviews and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering leadership to ensure successful project delivery.

Process System Design

Lead the development and optimization of complex process systems for:

• Simple cycle power plants
• Combined cycle power plants
• Reciprocating engine facilities
• Renewable energy projects
• Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
• Industrial process facilities
  Perform and review plant-wide heat and mass balances.
  • Direct the design and optimization of:
• Demineralized water treatment systems (RO, CEDI, mixed bed)
• Closed cooling water systems
• Service water systems
• Instrument and plant air systems
• Chemical dosing systems
• Wastewater treatment and handling systems
• Fuel gas conditioning and gas treatment systems
  Lead advanced hydraulic analyses and process simulations.
  • Review and approve equipment specifications and system designs for pumps, compressors, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment.
  • Provide expertise in material selection, corrosion control, and chemical compatibility evaluations.

Drawings & Engineering Deliverables

• Oversee development and approval of:

• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Process calculations
• Design basis documents
• Equipment lists
• Line lists
• Technical specifications
  • Lead HAZOP studies, design reviews, constructability reviews, and operability assessments.
  • Ensure consistency and integration across process, piping, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines.
  • Establish quality assurance standards for process engineering deliverables.

Environmental & Regulatory Support

• Provide technical leadership for environmental permitting and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Support emissions evaluations for gas turbines, duct burners, auxiliary boilers, and emergency generation systems.
  • Interface with environmental consultants, permitting agencies, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Support compliance efforts related to air quality, wastewater discharge, chemical storage, and environmental regulations.

Business Development & Client Relations

• Support proposal development, project pursuits, and client presentations.
  • Participate in business development efforts and technical sales initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through technical leadership and project support.
  • Represent Quanta Power Solutions at industry conferences, technical committees, and professional organizations.
  • Support development of strategic partnerships with OEMs, vendors, and industry stakeholders.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor Process Engineers at all levels across the organization.
  • Provide technical training and professional development opportunities for engineering staff.
  • Support recruitment, workforce planning, and engineering team development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership and executive management.

Education, Certifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive process engineering experience in power generation, industrial, chemical, oil & gas, or EPC environments.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert on large-scale EPC projects.
  • Extensive experience supporting combined cycle power generation facilities strongly preferred.
