About this Role

Northstar Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Director to lead and oversee our Gas Distribution division’s construction, maintenance, and repair operations across assigned markets, including new gas line installation, gas line replacement, leak repair, cathodic protection, meter relocation, and joint use trench services. This role sets strategic direction, ensures safety and regulatory compliance, manages budgets and P&L performance, and builds strong client and workforce relationships. The Director will provide senior leadership to field operations teams, drive operational excellence, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and profitable gas distribution services.

 

Location: 3340 Roy Orr Blvd, Grand Prairie, TX 75050
Schedule: Monday–Friday; availability for after-hours and emergency response as operational needs require

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Gas Distribution division's construction, maintenance, and repair operations within assigned region(s), including new gas line installation, replacement, leak repair, cathodic protection, and meter relocation services.
  • Own P&L responsibility for gas distribution operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue growth.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to improve safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.
  • Ensure all gas distribution operations comply with PHMSA, DOT, OSHA, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations and codes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop operations manager(s), superintendents, general foremen, and field support to build a high-performing operations team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with gas teams, clients, and utility partners
  • Oversee resource planning, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure projects are adequately staffed and supported.
  • Partner with safety, quality, and compliance teams to drive a strong safety culture and reduce incident rates across all crews.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics, taking corrective action as needed to meet company goals.
  • Support business development efforts, including bidding, proposal development, and contract negotiations for gas distribution work.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for incidents, near misses, and operational deficiencies.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in gas distribution, pipeline, or utility operations, with 5+ years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
  • Extensive knowledge of gas distribution systems, poly and steel pipe construction methods, and industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of PHMSA, DOT pipeline safety regulations, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance for a multi-crew or multi-project operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing field leadership and crews.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in project management, scheduling, and financial reporting tools and software.

What You Will Bring:

Job Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple concurrent gas distribution construction and maintenance projects across a defined region.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, scopes of work, and client requirements to guide operational execution.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage competing demands across crews, projects, and client accounts.
  • Ability to travel regularly to job sites, client locations, and company facilities within the assigned region.
  • Willingness to be available for emergency response and after-hours operational needs as required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
